Author: Kiara London

In Kiss Cam, teen author Kiara London asks, what’s a little harmless kissing between friends?
Juniper, Jasper, and Lenny have been friends forever and co-own a vlog channel called WereVloggingHere. Their fans are huge “shippers” who believe that Juniper and Jasper are perfect for each other, and, despite warnings from friends and family, a simple Truth-or-Dare inspired kiss soon spirals out of control into a whole new world of making out and surprise kisses.
Juniper and Jasper’s relationship begins to shift. But as fan requests for different “Kiss Cam” segments keep pouring in, Juniper puts her worries aside and convinces herself that it doesn’t mean anything. After all, it’s just kissing… right?

My Rants and Raves of Kiss Cam
Kiss Cam is definitely a contemporary book that brings the YouTube (vlogging) generation to the pages of bookish community. I devoured this book in one sitting, and let’s just say I experienced laughs, mouth-dropping-moments, swoons, and the occasional shouting of “I KNEW IT!”
All of the characters, including their emotions, are realistic and relatable. Friendships that transition into relationships are more complicated than we actually like to admit, because often times we are in denial or lack brave communication skills, hahaha. And I like that the characters don’t shy away from portraying the vulnerability that often results from the blurred lines between friendships and relationships.
I also enjoyed that the characters are able to blend their vlogging world into their actual real life, while also experiencing the obstacles that reality throws at them. It is not too hard to put two and two together to understand that when kissing your best friend becomes a game of dares on the internet, friendships often morph into something new. Although I found the novel predictable, contemporary readers will fall in love with the friendships and relationships that blossom in Kiss Cam, because they are heartwarming and cute. And even though, Kiss Cam is a fluffy, straight-forward love story, it is also a feel good love story that I think many readers can kick back, read, and swoon over.
Oh, and as a true salute and spin-off of the book…you guys, “I’m blogging here.”
Author Bio:
Kiara London is the internet savvy, hopelessly romantic alter ego of Bethany Novak-Tveten, who in real life is part of the US Air Force. She started writing on the online writing site Booksie when she was thirteen and then transferred to Wattpad where her debut novel Kiss Cam was originally posted. She spends most of her time scrolling down Tumblr, attempting to read everything she can get her hands on, and drooling over fictional men.
