The Blogger Aesthetic Award

blogger-aesthetic-748px3

The Blogger Aesthetic Award was created by Liam @ Hey Ashers! Be sure to check out his original post about the award hereI was nominated and tagged by Kirsty at Kirsty’s Book Reviews. Thank you, Kirsty!

THE RULES:

  • Collect any number of images that you feel represent you as a person—your personality, aspirations, favorite things, anything at all that makes you you.
  • Put your chosen images together into a collage of whatever size and shape you find pleasing.
  • Share your masterpiece with everyone, in all the places.
  • Maybe nominate other bloggers as a way to tell them, “Hey, you, I think you’re awesome, and we should celebrate that awesomeness.”
  • Share these rules (and maybe the below tips, if you’re feeling helpful).

TIPS:

  • Find inspiration by spending (minimum) three hours scrolling through aesthetic Tumblr posts relevant to you.
  • Two great places to hunt for pictures are Pinterest and WeHeartIt. Pinterest requires an account; WeHeartIt does not.
  • PicMonkey’s collage editor is free to use and doesn’t require an account, heck yes. YouTube has plenty of tutorials on how to use it; I watched this one (which begins with tips on how to find decent photos).

I don’t know if this is breaking the rules, but below is a mash-up of my own pictures that I gathered to express my aesthetic.

I like to think that this collage aesthetic is me in a nutshell. As you can see I’m a mix of donuts, books, witchiness, Funko Pops, fandom candles, NKY/Cincy sunsets, more books, feminism, coffee love, cemetery visits, cute shoes, books and more books, awesome mugs, organization, tote bag hoarder, fantasy lover, Jane Eyre fanatic, and my furbaby–Josephine the poodle.

I tag:

Book Madness 2017: Vote for Scarlett from Caraval by Stephanie Garber

bookmadness17

Hi, everyone and welcome to Book Madness 2017 created and hosted by Maggie, author of The Big F.

What is #BookMadness17?: This year it is a mashup of 64 participating BookTubers, Bookstagrammers, and Book Bloggers gushing about their favorite characters. Throughout the month of March, everyone is encouraged to vote for their favorite characters in different rounds, resulting in one ultimate champion. And guess what! Prizes are involved for viewers, voters, and bloggers that participate (US and International winners).

So without further ado, I present to you my character nominee:

bookmadness17

Caraval has become one of my favorite debut books of 2017, and Scarlett is definitely one of my favorite heroines. She is cautious but daring. A loving sister and trustworthy friend. While making continuous selfless sacrifices throughout Caraval, Scarlett is the feisty heroine that faces her challenges head on! A total badass who can pull off a beautiful but heavy Victorian dress whilst chasing clues around a dark and mischievous carnival game.

So if you’re also a fan of Scarlett, be sure to click on the banner and/or the link below, and VOTE FOR SCARLETT!

Happy 1-Year Blogversary & Giveaway!!!

img_2183

I have been part of the bookish community for over 6 years, mainly as a reader and Goodreads reviewer. But after much debate, I decided to enter the bookish world as a book blogger. So on January 12, 2016, I revamped my old blog that I created in 2011 (I only had one post, hahaha), and started sharing my own rants and raves on books and anything book-related. I have loved every step, and I continue to learn things about myself, the community, and the publishing world. Thank you to everyone who has supported my blog, and more importantly, thank you for making me feel so welcome in the book blogging world.

Book Tag: THIS or THAT

THIS or THAT

The Rules

1. Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).

2. Thank the blogger who tagged you!

3. Choose one of the options. You don’t have to tell the reasons why you chose that, but you can also do them if you want to.

4. Tag 10 other people to do this tag to spread the love!

Questions

One: reading on the couch or on the bed?
Both. I read during the day on a couch and at night on the bed.

Two: male main character or female main character?
Definitely, a female main character. I find female characters to be more dynamic and fully fledged out when authors fully explore the potential of their female characters.

Three: sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?
I usually do not eat while reading, but I don’t mind munching on some salty snacks like pretzels.

Four: trilogies or quartets?
I prefer duologies, but I don’t mind trilogies.

Five: first person point of view or third person point of view?
Third person point of view. I have a hard time connecting with characters in first person point view and usually feel like I’m forcing myself to stick with the story.

Six: reading at night or in the morning?
I usually read in the evening or at night. It helps me wind down and get my thoughts off the day’s events.

Seven: libraries or bookstores?
Definitely bookstores, because I NEED to own ALL the books. I live in a small town and our library is very limited and not very big. I don’t mind making that 30+ minute drive to a bookstore.

Eight: books that make you laugh or make you cry?
Books that make me laugh.

Nine: black book covers or white book covers?
As I glance at my books, I’m going to have to go with black book covers.

Ten: character driven or plot driven stories?
Plot driven. I need a story, I need a background, I need reasons, and I need change in order for a story to capture my attention.

Unpopular Opinions: Twitterless Edition

In the last few days, people have been tweeting this picture for “likes” and in response posting their “unpopular” opinions. Instead of tweeting the image, I decided to just do my own list of Unpopular Opinions that I have.

  1. I love making lists: to-do lists, checklists, pros and cons, ALL THE LISTS!
  2. I think eating pork is disgusting, and that includes you, bacon!
  3. John Green books are always a DNF for me.
  4. I’m an English major who loves math.
  5. If I ever get married, I’m not changing my last name.
  6. I’m not a fan of audio books.
  7. I think the show Modern Family is overrated.
  8. Having Shailene Woodley play Tris in the Divergent movies was the worst movie mistake ever made.
  9. I don’t get the over-hyped love for Jane Austen and her books.
  10. I love washing clothes.
  11. Avocados and raisins are gross.
  12. Words like “moist” don’t bother me.
  13. I hate reality TV shows.
  14. I’d rather go to historical/literary landmarks than the beach for vacation.
  15. I enjoy sending out cards and letters through snail mail.
