Top 5 Tuesday: Books You Read as an ARC

IMG_8572This was one of the first ARCs I ever owned. I won it from a Twitter giveaway hosted by Fierce Reads. I love this trilogy and I am hoping to reread it again before the end of the year.

IMG_8570A Million Junes was my favorite book of 2017 and I haven’t stopped raving about it since.

IMG_8571I adored this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I’m so excited for Meagan Spooner’s Robin Hood retelling called Sherwood. Is it 2019, yet?

IMG_8569If there is one contemporary writer I highly recommend to readers it’s Emma Mills. Her books are always so swoony and realistic. Definitely give Foolish Hearts a read–the Froot Loops will make sense after you read the book, lol.

IMG_8574I was so lucky to receive a manuscript ARC of Legendary from Flatiron Books. I love the world of Caraval, and this book did not disappoint.

Top 5 Tuesday: Character Driven Books

Today’s topic: Top 5 Character Driven Books

I love the main character Mim so much in Mosquitoland. She is feisty, honest, and holds nothing back.

IMG_8046Obviously, Alice drives this story and plot to the very last page.

IMG_8045
I adore the The Winner’s Trilogy (it’s probably my favorite trilogy EVER), and Kestrel and Arin are the two main forces that drive this fantasy with so much soul and longing and heartache…GAH I love their journey so much.

IMG_8044
JUNE…in a story filled with grief and loss,  Jack “June” O’Donnell IV provides the much needed humor to make this novel so heartfelt and comforting. With June’s quick wit and humor, this book is like receiving the most welcoming hug and a much-needed cry to get through any sorrowful situation.

IMG_8043As a bildugroman, Jane Eyre speaks through the pages, allowing her reader to follow her progressive footsteps to being an orphan then a governess and then to a Victorian woman with financial means to support herself. Through every page, Jane is fierce and bold, and she never gives up on doing what she feels is right.

Top 5 Tuesday: Favorite Books to Collect (Free Week)

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Bionic Book Worm

Today’s topic: Free Week, so today I am highlighting some of my favorite books that I like to collect.

IMG_7681I read Uprooted three years ago, a few weeks before my mom passed away. It was the last book that I remember raving about to her, so it will always be a wonderful memory that I hold in my heart. This book has everything from magic, fantasy, a fierce heroine, and a slow-burn romance.

IMG_7683One summer, during graduate school, I found The Night Circus and devoured it in one sitting. If there is one book in the world that I would want to experience the magic of reading all over again for the first time, it would be The Night Circus

IMG_7684Last summer, I fell so deeply in love with a little story filled with loss and grief and so much love, and that book was called A Million Junes. Emily Henry’s storytelling had me laughing, crying, and swooning. I love that book so so much, and I wish it was on more TBRs, because this hidden gem is so magical and gush-worthy.

IMG_7685
The Winner’s Curse was one of the first ever ARCs I won (via Twitter) from a huge publisher. When I received it in the mail, I devoured Kestrel and Arin’s story, and from that day on, I became one of The Winner’s Trilogy’s biggest cheerleaders.

IMG_7686
I adore Stephanie Garber’s world of Caraval. I am always book-pushing this book/series to any reader that loves mystery, romance, and fantasy.

Honorary Collection:

I have been collecting different editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland since high school. Not only do I love the story and world, but I love finding new and different editions with beautiful covers.

Top Ten Tuesday: Reading Slump Cure

HOSTED by The Broke and the Bookish

This week’s topic is…

Top Ten Books that Get Me Out of Reading Slumps

(Click on the book cover to be linked to its Goodreads page or my review)

The Kate Daniels series is my favorite urban fantasy series, and book 4, Magic Bleeds, is my favorite book out of the series so far. I love Kate Daniels–she is so badass and fierce. And the sassy, snarky, and sarcastic dialogue between her and Curran always makes my day.

21853666

I found Happiness for Beginners by accident last year, and I loved it. I love it so much that I have turned to it two times for a reading slump cure.  I love how Helen pushes herself throughout the book, and I especially enjoyed the dynamics between Helen and Jake.

18189606

I’ve lost count of how many times I have read Since You’ve Been Gone. As an introvert and an people-observer, Emily reminds me of me when I was her age. I never had a Frank, but I’m so glad she found him in the book.

18741152

This is my classy, swoony book that I turned to ALL the time, because it’s a cheesy, quick, and light-hearted read.

17756559

I can never get enough of Kestrel and Arin, so whenever a reading slump hits, I want to be in their world and in their heads, because they are perfect for each other.

16068905

This is one of those books I wish I had when I was in high school/early college. It’s a quick and genuinely cute book to fall in love with over and over.

18304322

I feel like Dumplin’ is one of those books that changed my perspective of the “typical” girl found in young adult books. Willowdean is a memorable character that I wish I could meet in person. I wish they would make this book into a movie!

71811

The Mercy Thompson series is another urban fantasy series that I LOVE SO MUCH. I could reread this series over and over, and still want more.

22429350

The Start of Me and You is my favorite Emery Lord book (so far). It touches base on losing someone, starting new friendships, first loves, anxiety, and fandoms. It is a cute and quick read that always cures my reading slumps.

23281781

Brighton Walsh is one of my favorite New Adult writers, and Tessa Ever After was the first book I read by her. It’s realistic and sexy and funny as hell. Definitely a great book that has gotten me out of a few reading slumps.
