Monthly TBR: November 2018

tbr banner

Happy November! It’s a new month, which means a new “To-Be-Read” pile.

November is an emotional month for me, so I decided to stick to reading a few of my favorite books to help ease some of that sadness. I have already read all of these books, but sometimes you just need to go back to reading a book that you know is good and will help you cope with hard times.

I signed up for Miss Print’s ARC Adoption program and received Bring Me Their Hearts. I meant to read it in July, but I went through a huge reading slump. Hoping to get to it in August. Thank you for the book, Emma.

img_8062.jpgI received an early copy of Escaping from Houdini from Jimmy Patterson Books. I also received an extra copy from an awesome bookseller a few days before I received my publisher copy, so I gifted that one to a huge Kerri fan. Thank you, Jimmy Patterson Books, I cannot wait to read it.

The UK edition of Caraval has five different mystery “under the covers,” which include a dress, clock, tent, rose, or top hat.

While trying to collect different versions of The Night Circus, I found this beauty.

I can’t find a personal picture that I have taken of the naked hardcover of The Cruel Prince, but if you ever lift up the jacket–behold the beauty!

I am currently collecting all four “under the cover” hardcovers of Legendary. My favorite so far is the Shattered Crown edition.

Once again, I cannot find a personal picture, but you guys, trust me, the naked hardcover of The Wicked Deep is beautiful. If you ever find a copy, the hardback has a moon and stars foiled into the hardback. I love it.

Top 5 Tuesday: Favorite Books to Collect (Free Week)

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Bionic Book Worm

Today’s topic: Free Week, so today I am highlighting some of my favorite books that I like to collect.

Click on my photographs to be linked to my review or the book’s Goodreads page.

IMG_7681I read Uprooted three years ago, a few weeks before my mom passed away. It was the last book that I remember raving about to her, so it will always be a wonderful memory that I hold in my heart. This book has everything from magic, fantasy, a fierce heroine, and a slow-burn romance.

IMG_7683One summer, during graduate school, I found The Night Circus and devoured it in one sitting. If there is one book in the world that I would want to experience the magic of reading all over again for the first time, it would be The Night Circus

IMG_7684Last summer, I fell so deeply in love with a little story filled with loss and grief and so much love, and that book was called A Million Junes. Emily Henry’s storytelling had me laughing, crying, and swooning. I love that book so so much, and I wish it was on more TBRs, because this hidden gem is so magical and gush-worthy.

IMG_7685
The Winner’s Curse was one of the first ever ARCs I won (via Twitter) from a huge publisher. When I received it in the mail, I devoured Kestrel and Arin’s story, and from that day on, I became one of The Winner’s Trilogy’s biggest cheerleaders.

IMG_7686
I adore Stephanie Garber’s world of Caraval. I am always book-pushing this book/series to any reader that loves mystery, romance, and fantasy.

Honorary Collection:

I have been collecting different editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland since high school. Not only do I love the story and world, but I love finding new and different editions with beautiful covers.

Top Five Wednesday: Gateway Books to My Favorite Genre

Top 5 Wednesday

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY is a weekly meme created by Lainey @ GingerReadsLainey and is currently hosted by Samantha @ Thoughts on TomesEvery Wednesday a new topic is listed on the Goodreads group, and you list your top 5 books related to the particular topic.

This week’s topic is…

Gateway Books to Your Favorite Genre

My go-to genre is fantasy. I love the world-building, the variety of characters that can show up, and more importantly I love the magic that usually encompasses the story. So below, here are my Top 5 Books that I believe are perfect to introduce a new reader to the genre of Fantasy.

9361589

The Night Circus is 387 pages of mystery, kittens, the aroma of Kettlecorn, romance, and intense magic! If you are looking for a good fantasy read, this book will definitely win you over.

18488433

The Storyspinner is an engaging, high fantasy read. It intertwines reality, magic, and a badass heroine. Definitely add this to your TBR list now!

3

This fantasy series needs no explanation. JUST READ IT!

The Winner’s Trilogy contains no magic, but it definitely has elaborate world-building and a historical feel to it. The way the two main characters challenge other is intense, gut-wrenching, and beautifully executed throughout the whole series.

10194157

In 2012, I was going through a reading slump. I had just finished my first year of graduate school for English Literature, and I was in the dire need of a good book. I could go on and on about how great this series is, but trust me, it’s amazing in every way.

Top Ten Tuesday: Audiobooks

This week’s topic is…

Audiobooks I Have Loved
