The Blogger Aesthetic Award

blogger-aesthetic-748px3

The Blogger Aesthetic Award was created by Liam @ Hey Ashers! Be sure to check out his original post about the award hereI was nominated and tagged by Kirsty at Kirsty’s Book Reviews. Thank you, Kirsty!

THE RULES:

  • Collect any number of images that you feel represent you as a person—your personality, aspirations, favorite things, anything at all that makes you you.
  • Put your chosen images together into a collage of whatever size and shape you find pleasing.
  • Share your masterpiece with everyone, in all the places.
  • Maybe nominate other bloggers as a way to tell them, “Hey, you, I think you’re awesome, and we should celebrate that awesomeness.”
  • Share these rules (and maybe the below tips, if you’re feeling helpful).

TIPS:

  • Find inspiration by spending (minimum) three hours scrolling through aesthetic Tumblr posts relevant to you.
  • Two great places to hunt for pictures are Pinterest and WeHeartIt. Pinterest requires an account; WeHeartIt does not.
  • PicMonkey’s collage editor is free to use and doesn’t require an account, heck yes. YouTube has plenty of tutorials on how to use it; I watched this one (which begins with tips on how to find decent photos).

I don’t know if this is breaking the rules, but below is a mash-up of my own pictures that I gathered to express my aesthetic.

I like to think that this collage aesthetic is me in a nutshell. As you can see I’m a mix of donuts, books, witchiness, Funko Pops, fandom candles, NKY/Cincy sunsets, more books, feminism, coffee love, cemetery visits, cute shoes, books and more books, awesome mugs, organization, tote bag hoarder, fantasy lover, Jane Eyre fanatic, and my furbaby–Josephine the poodle.

I tag:

Lia
And anyone who would love to participate!

A big thank you to Zainab at https://abibliophilesobsession.wordpress.com/ and Ronyell at rabbitearsbookblog.blogspot.com for tagging me and the nomination!!!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Add these rules to your post.
  • Answer all the questions below.
  • Display the award picture in your post.
  • Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring, and most important of all ENTERTAINING!

The Questions:

Q1. Why did you start a blog in the first place?

In 2011, I started this blog to talk about books and my geocaching adventures. However, at the beginning of this year, I revamped my site and dedicated my blog to anything and everything book related.

Q2. What is your favorite book?

Well, I have a few…Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy, Marie Rutkoski’s The Winner’s Trilogy, and Uprooted by Naomi Novik.

Q3. What do you dislike the most?

In the book community, I would have to say people/readers that do not treat authors as real people.

Q4. What is your favorite food item from the mall?

Warm pretzels.

Q5. What is your favorite pastime?

Hmmm…other than reading and blogging, I love playing with my dog, writing, and binge watching amazing shows.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Facts About Me

TOP TEN TUESDAY

HOSTED by The Broke and the Bookish

This week’s topic is…

Ten Facts About Me

  1. I am a tote bag hoarder. TOTE BAGS ARE LIFE!!!
  2. The first time I took the Pottermore quiz, it asked me to choose my house between Gryffindor, Slytherin, or Ravenclaw. I screamed across the room, “I’M DIVERGENT,” to my brother. I ended up picking Ravenclaw, of course.
  3. I’m an asparagus and kale junkie.
  4. Friends and relatives randomly call me because they want to hear my laugh.
  5. I love Diet Coke, and I’m convinced that the McDonald’s down the street from my job has the best Diet Coke on the planet.
  6. I keep a copy of The Catcher in the Rye in my glove compartment of my car.
  7. My brother, Johnny, my friend, Kayla, and I go to bookstores and play a game where we pick up an unknown book, and we have to describe the synopsis based on its cover. My favorite part is giving the characters names.
  8. According to Goodreads, I own 366 signed books!
  9. I’m a mood reader, so this thoroughly explains my three reading slumps I have experienced this year, so far.
  10. TODAY IS MY 6-MONTH BLOGVERSARY. YAY!!!

My 25 Bookish Habits

25 BOOKISH HABITS

Last week I posted a blog that listed 25 Facts about myself. Well today, I decided to give you all the inside scoop on 25 of my bookish habits. HERE WE GO!

  1. Once I start reading, I’m in a zone and nothing distracts me. I can read in the car. I can read with the TV on. I can read with the radio on. I can read while conversations are going on all around me. I can read anywhere!
  2. I am hardcore TEAM HARDCOVER. I honestly want nothing but hardcover books taking up room on my bookshelves.
  3. I’m not a big fan of owning paperbacks, especially mass market paperbacks.
  4. However, I do prefer reading paperbacks, because they are lightweight and easy to handle. I know, I’m a weirdo!
  5. If I read a hardback novel, I have to take the dust jacket off first. I have lost many dust jackets due to this habit.
  6. I like to read New Adult and Paranormal Romance books on my Kindle app versus reading a physical copy.
  7. I have a slight addiction to owning German editions of my favorite books.
  8. Over 50% of the books I own are signed.
  9. 99.9% of the time I have a book in my possession.
  10. I use a book tote bag as a purse. So not only do I have my essentials, like wallet, lipbalm, etc., in my purse/tote bag, but I also carry along at least one book (sometimes two).
  11. I keep a copy of The Catcher in the Rye in my glove compartment of my car.
  12. I organize my books alphabetically by the author’s last name.
  13. The only exception to my alphabetical organization is that I have whole shelves dedicated to my Jane Eyre collection, Harry Potter collection,  A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) collection, Marie Rutkoski’s The Winner’s series, and my Leigh Bardugo collection.
  14. Last year I started a To-Be-Read shelf on one of my bookcases, but it turned into a TBR bookcase.
  15. I’m an interactive reader. I write and highlight in my books, and I even add post-its/stickynotes to flag important passages.
  16. I don’t mind reading secondhand books that are marked up or highlighted.
  17. If I am unable to highlight, mark, or flag my favorite passages, I will dog-ear the pages. I DON’T CARE IF IT BENDS THE PAGE!
  18. I don’t have a specific place where I like to read.
  19. I read every day, but I do a majority of my reading (90% of the time) on weekends.
  20. If I’m not going through a reading slump, I can read 2 to 4 books a weekend.
  21. I have to read chapter by chapter. I cannot bookmark at some random page to save my spot.
  22. I’m not a big fan of audio books. I feel like audio books take away from my interactive reading skills; how the hell do people highlight or note their favorite quotes/passages with audio books?
  23. I am a mood reader, and I often go on genre binges.
  24. I don’t really have a snack or drink preference when I read.
  25. Sometimes I will go to the last chapter and see how the book ends while I’m in the middle of the book. I usually do this with books I’m thinking about not finishing. The process of reading the last chapter, determines if the book is a DNF for me. I really hate not finishing books, though.

What are some of your own bookish habits? Have you ever observed odd bookish habits from your fellow book friends? If so, what were they?

Unpopular Opinions: Twitterless Edition

In the last few days, people have been tweeting this picture for “likes” and in response posting their “unpopular” opinions. Instead of tweeting the image, I decided to just do my own list of Unpopular Opinions that I have.

  1. I love making lists: to-do lists, checklists, pros and cons, ALL THE LISTS!
  2. I think eating pork is disgusting, and that includes you, bacon!
  3. John Green books are always a DNF for me.
  4. I’m an English major who loves math.
  5. If I ever get married, I’m not changing my last name.
  6. I’m not a fan of audio books.
  7. I think the show Modern Family is overrated.
  8. Having Shailene Woodley play Tris in the Divergent movies was the worst movie mistake ever made.
  9. I don’t get the over-hyped love for Jane Austen and her books.
  10. I love washing clothes.
  11. Avocados and raisins are gross.
  12. Words like “moist” don’t bother me.
  13. I hate reality TV shows.
  14. I’d rather go to historical/literary landmarks than the beach for vacation.
  15. I enjoy sending out cards and letters through snail mail.
