This week’s topic is . . . Changes In My Reading Life
- I used to read mainly classics, fantasy, and sci-fi books. I still love these genres, but in the last several years, I have found a comfortable and happy escape in swoony contemporaries.
- I don’t write, highlight, and tag in my books as much as I used to.
- This year I have read more e-books than physical books.
- I started DNFing books. I give a book about 80-100 pages, and if I find no connection with it, I drop it.
- Lately, I have been preferring standalones over series.
- I “try” to read throughout the week, but I get most of my reading in during the weekend.
- I have started reading 2-3 books at a time. I used to be a “one book at a time” type of person.
- I have cut down on monthly book subscription boxes.
- I used to carry a physical book with at all times, but since I read a lot of e-books, I don’t do this a lot anymore.
- This year, I started using my library app/Overdrive more often.
What changes have you seen in your reading life?
Great list! Using my library is definitely something I want to get better at in 2020. 🙂
Awesome list, i have only a few on my list that might match yours. I really should get to my library soon.

Libraries are the best!
I have not been to mine since i was like 12 whoops
DNFing is such a healthy thing to do when you’re really not connecting to a book. Good for you.
My TTT.
Yes! THIS! That’s exactly how I feel.
I definitely switched from a strict one book at a time person to having like 3+ books going at any given time 😅
The chaos the more I get done, lol.
I’ve never had the DNF problem. Like leaving dishes in the sink if I’m tired. Glad you’ve seen the light on DNF. Life is short. Don’t waste it on a bad book.
I used to feel that way about DNF too, but then I had to convince myself there were better books that deserved my time, lol.
Good that you did so! Time is short.
I’m with you on #3, 4, and 10, though you definitely give a book a better chance than I do! I quite around page 50-60. I’ve never been much of a fan of series books though. If it’s more than 3, I usually won’t even start it.
I was thinking about 50 pages, but I feel comfortable with given the book at least a 1/3 shot, lol.
Great list! I want to use the library more in 2020. Here is my post https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2019/11/welcome-back-i-have-missed-doing-top.html
You should. I saved a lot of money that way.
I definitely remember a time when I was adamant about only reading one book at a time! Oh how times have changed.

Yes! Multitasking is the best.
I’ve definitely gotten a lot better with DNFing as well!
It feels good to let things go.
I’ve also started reading multiple books at a time this year, usually one on my kindle and one physical book. 🙂
Here’s my TTT for this week. 🙂
That’s what I have been doing too. And in the last month, I have added audiobooks to the mix.
How I wish I had Overdrive too. So many things in your list I found myself agreeing to!
Overdrive has been a lifesaver for me.
“I have started reading 2-3 books at a time.” I think that’s the biggest change for me too in the last couple of years. Before that it was always one book at a time. Now I’m multi-tasking lol.
Hahaha it’s the best thing to do.
Yay! I’m glad to see so many bloggers getting on the DNF train. Life is too short to read bad books. And unlike you, I have gotten away from reading multiple books at a time. I guess this comes in phases for me? Right now I think life is too chaotic for me to keep track of them all! Keep up the awesome work.
Reading multiple books at a time this year has been a good and bad thing for me, lol.
