This week’s topic is…
Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book
- If the words “queen,” “royalty,” “crown,” “throne,” or “kingdom” are in the title of the book.
- Any book that features a fierce, badass heroine.
- If the book’s setting takes place in space or another galaxy.
- If the book is about witches, covens, or the Salem Witch Trials.
- The book features dragons.
- The book belongs to the Magical Realism genre.
- Anything written by Ilona Andrews and Leigh Bardugo.
- Books that take place in the 19th century. So basically any retelling of Jane Eyre, books about Victorians/Queen Victoria, and anything related to Edgar Allan Poe.
- If the book is a fairy tale retelling, especially “Snow White” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
- Anything in the Steampunk genre.
Have you read “These Broken Stars” or ACOTAR?
I loved These Broken Stars. I still have to read the rest of the series though. I’m not a big ACOTAR fan, sadly.
I still have to read the rest of the series too! I’ve only read TBS and the novella! And aww, understandable. ACOMAF is way better.
Great list! I totally agree with the badass heroine and I love fairytale retellings! 😊
And having a badass herione in a fairy tale retelling is the best! I just love a fierce MC!
Yes I completely agree! They’re the best! 😃
I definitely agree with 1, 2 and 5!
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2017/04/18/top-ten-tuesday-103/
Yay!!! I’ve noticed a lot of similarities among different blogger lists. 🙂
Yes, so have I. I guess some things are commonly enjoyed among all bloggers 🙂
Most definitely!
I forgot to include retellings! Crushingcinders.com
I’ve been on a retelling kick lately, lol.
Hi! I love a fierce heroine for sure! I’m not always into retellings, but I just read a good one of Alice in Wonderland with a badass heroine. It’s called Alice: The Wanderland Chronicles. It was a fun read, sort of like watching an action movie 🙂
Leslie
Oh, thanks for the recommendation. I have never heard of this series.
Heart Edgar Allan Poe forever!!!!
YES! YES! YES!
I’m right there with you on all things royal and fairytale retellings!
Hahaha…YAY!!!
I’m with you on the Salem Witch Trials. I don’t know why, but I find the subject endlessly fascinating.
Happy TTT!
I’m obsessed. I’m hoping to go back to Salem this summer, because I love it there so much, lol.
Ooh, such a good list! Witches, magical realism, Victorian-era settings, and Leigh Bardugo are definite draws for me, too!
YAY!!! I like your taste in books, LOL.
Fairy tale retellings and magical realism are two things I really need to read more of. I’ve loved what I’ve read but it hasn’t been nearly enough. I will read anything that mentions the Salem Witch Trials. I’m not sure why I’m so fascinated but I definitely am. Great list!
Thank you. I feel like I have to read all the books regarding the Salem Witch Trials, LOL.
Dragons! 🙂 Definitely agree about Ilona Andrews.
I cannot wait for May to roll around, so we can finally read Ilona Andrew’s new book. EEK!
Agreed! 🙂
Dragons and kingdoms usually work for me. 🙂 And the Victorian era is a favorite especially if there’s a supernatural element. I’m trying to try more steampunk…
Fantasy and Steampunk are my go to genres. Definitely read some more Steampunk, you won’t regret it 🙂
